Megan Stanek, MA, LPC

Administrative Director | she/her

"Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness."

-Dr. Peter Levine

As Administrative Director and co-founder of Taproot Therapy, Megan bridges business strategy and clinical reality, bringing a practical, grounded approach shaped by experience across multiple industries. Her background in sales, finance, and business informs how Taproot operates day to day, while her years in community mental health ensure those systems remain responsive to the real demands of complex clinical work. Since 2018, Megan has invested in building Taproot with an emphasis on the belief that when a practice drives with integrity, authenticity, and transparency it creates a safe haven for clinicians and clients alike to grow.

Clinically, Megan has extensive experience working with complex trauma, suicidality and self-harm, consent violations, and survivors of generational, religious, and relational abuse. She spent seven years working closely with the Gila River Indian Community, supporting children and families navigating trauma, poverty, substance exposure, and highly complex systems, while collaborating with schools, tribal social services, hospitals, and community partners. Megan is a Licensed Professional Counselor and qualified clinical supervisor in Arizona, with formal training in EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing. Her approach is grounded in clinical integrity, clear communication, and a realistic understanding of what meaningful change actually requires. While Megan no longer sees clients directly, she remains passionate about therapeutic work and finds meaning in matching clients to just the right therapist!
